The secondary school outdoor education credit program has been established in recognition of the value and importance of outdoor education experiences to students in the Ottawa school system. The program provides an extension to the classroom, so that intensive, enjoyable learning experiences can occur in safety-minded natural settings. The trips provide the focus of the course. Besides learning technical skills, there is emphasis on healthy living, informed decision-making, conflict resolution and social skills. Both individual and group skills are developed.
